The Best Heroes of Armello for New Players
Armello is a multiplayer role-playing game (RPG), also described as a digital tabletop RPG, in which players assume the role of different heroes. In Armello, battles are fought by these heroes in order to decide who will win the match. In these matches, the heroes of Armello compete for the throne, and there can be only one who is victorious. Armello is a video game that features many different heroes to choose from, and each of these heroes possesses unique abilities, strenghts and weaknesses. Considering that Armello is a competitive game, it is important to consider these characteristics of each hero in order to choose the hero that is most suited to the gameplay style of the player. New players of Armello may wonder who are best beginner-friendly heroes of the video game.
The best heroes of Armello for new players and beginners are Mercurio, Sana, Amber and Thane, because they are easily learned and viable to win.
These heroes are not only easy to learn, but they also do not require of the player much knowledge about the game, about some other heroes, who may have some advantages, but at the same time are more suited to more experienced players. For example, Fang, which is an excellent fighter hero of Armello, requires of the player some knowledge about how Rot works in Armello, how to take advantage of it, and how to avoid common mistakes of new players that try to play the game using the Rot strategy. In Armello, for unexperienced players, trying to use the Rot system to their advantage often backfires, and thus this strategy suggested only for more experienced players, who have already played a reasonable amount of matches of Armello.
4 - Mercurio
Mercurio is a hero of Armello belonging to the Rat clan. While Mercurio starts the game with a reasonable amount of points in Fight and in Body, in my experience, the gameplay style of playing with Mercurio is better if Mercurio is played along with Trap cards, instead of as a fighter hero, and this is mostly because Mercurio will often be at disadvantage if directly fighting more Fight-oriented heroes such as Fang, River and Thane. Considering that Mercurio starts the game with 5 points at Wits, he is already at advantage in comparison to most heroes of Armello in this regard, and can easily increase this even further through the quests during the match. At the same time, due to his versatility, Mercurio can effectively be played as a fighter hero if needed, although, as previously stated, he will be at disadvantage against heroes that start with higher points in Fight and in Body.
3 - Sana
Sana is a hero of Armello belonging to the Bear clan. Sana starts the game with a very low amount of points in Fight, only 2 points, whereas she starts the game with a higher-than-average amount of points in Body, 6 points. While Sana is able to sustain higher amounts of damage than other heroes at the early game, she is not well-suited for direct combat and fighting. Instead, due to her high amount of points in Spirit, which is 5 at the early game, Sana is more suited for using spells throughout the game. However, Sana also starts with a low amount of points in Wits, only 3. For this reason, for new players playing with Sana, I recommend doing quests that focus on increasing Wits and Spirit, as this will allow Sana to not only have more cards in hand, but also cast spells more frequently during the game, which is incredibly important to protect hereself against other heroes and also to defeat Banes.
2 - Amber
Amber is a hero of Armello belonging to the Rabbit clan. One of the most versatile heroes, Amber starts the game with an average amount of points in all aspects: 3 in Fight, 5 in Body (which is higher than average), 4 in Wits and 4 in Spirit. This incredibly well-rounded distribution of points in the early game allow Amber to perform well in a variety of gameplay styles: Amber can be a fighter, Amber can be a hero that uses Trap cards, and Amber can be a spellcaster. Moreover, Amber has a unique ability that provides her an increased chance of positive outcomes when adventuring in dungeons. This unique characteristic incentivizes players that choose this hero to adventure as much as possible throughout the match. While Amber is a versatile hero, in my experience, considering that Amber starts the game with only 3 in Fight, in comparison to some fighter heroes that start the game with 5 in Fight, I suggest new players who choose Amber to focus on increasing Wits, as this will allow the hero to have more cards in hand at the same time. Moreover, players can also make an effort to claim as many settlements as possible throughout the match, as this will decrease the cost of gold to use some cards, effectively allowing them to use more cards throughout the match, which will provide them with more possiblities to protect against other heroes and earn Prestige.
1 - Thane
Thane is a hero of Armello belonging to the Wolf clan. Thane starts the match of Armello with 5 points in Fight, 5 points in Body, 3 points in Wits and 3 points in Spirit. Due to these early composition, in my perspective, Thane is most suited to be a fighter hero throughout the game, taking advantage of his early edge regarding the points in Fight and in Body. Due to his early high amount of points in Fight and in Body, Thane performs well in battles in the early game against most heroes of Armello, and can be a tough and formidable opponent in the late game if the player chose to further increase the points in Fight and in Body throughout the match. At the same time, considering that Thane already starts the game with a reasonable amount of points in Fight and in Body, I have seen players focus on increasing the Wits points of this hero throughout the match, to be able to use more cards throughout the game, and I have seen this strategy perform well. This reflects the aspect of Armello that there is not a single way to play the game, but that there are multiple ways of achieving victory in Armello.
