The Best Heroes of Vainglory for 3v3
Vainglory is a fast-paced action MOBA (multiplayer battle arena), in which players are able to select different heroes to play on battles. In Vainglory, each hero possesses unique strengths and weaknesses, and in order to perform as best as possible, each hero must be mastered, espeecially for ambitious players who desire to play in the highest ranks of Vainglory.
Vainglory features a variety of game modes, including casual and ranked matches, as well as 5v5 matches, 3v3 matches, among others. One important difference between the 5v5 and 3v3 battles is the size of the map: in 5v5, there are three lanes, while in 3v3, there is only one lane. This difference in the number of lanes between these two modes is an important factor in the strategy of the team composition in a match. For example, in 5v5 matches, there are often three lane heroes, whereas in 3v3 matches there is often only one lane hero. For this reason, team mates may expect more of the single lane hero of a 3v3 battle then they would expect of one of the three lane heroes in a 5v5 battle. Being aware of these variations is important when selecting a hero for a 3v3 battle, either casual or ranked.
When players look for the best heroes of Vainglory for 3v3, they will often look for top tier lists based on meta. While the meta is useful for certain ranks and for professional gameplay, in many cases, a well-played hero can make a lot of difference in many different ranks. While the meta often changes, the core gameplay of each hero stays mostly the same, only adapting to the chosen build. For this reason, for my list of 10 best heroes of Vainglory for 3v3, I have organized heroes by their gameplay and by their possibilities, not by their meta. Vainglory players may wonder which are best heroes for playing the video game in the 3v3 mode.
The best heroes of Vainglory for 3v3 are Ardan, Lance, Alpha, Krul, Skye, Blackfeather, Reza, Koshka, Gwen and Ringo.
In 3v3 battles, due to the reduced number of players, one more or one less player present in a teamfight can be a decisive factor. While different players of Vainglory will have different preferences, in my experience, the best heroes of Vainglory for 3v3 game modes, either casual or ranked, are the heroes that can make the most difference in various settings, deal high amounts of damage, and that have a considerable mobility. For these reasons, the heroes in this list I wrote will be mostly efficient captain heroes, high mobility jungler heroes and high damage-dealing carry heroes.
10 - Ardan
Perhaps my personal favorite captain hero of Vainglory, Ardan is a formidable captain hero. Ardan is able to sustain high amounts of damage, provide health barriers to his allies, deal a considerable amount of damage in the early game and also isolate enemy heroes with his Ultimate ability, which is quite useful for teamfights in the late game. Ardan is also quite easy to learn, making him an excellent choice for new players of Vainglory, and a reason why he is often in top tier lists.
While Ardan is a great support hero, I have never had a good experience with his weapon damage or crystal damage builds. For this reason, Ardan lacks the same versatility that Lance has regarding the option to employ weapon or crystal builds. However, despite not having the same versatility as Lance, Ardan's health barriers can make a considerable difference during teamfights in the middle and the late stages of the battle, and can sometimes turn the tide of battle for various team compositions.
9 - Lance
Lance is a captain hero, often used in both 3v3 and 5v5 battles in Vainglory. Lance is a captain hero that is easy to learn, making him a great choice for beginners and new players of Vainglory, while also being quite mobile, a reason why Lance is often seen in all ranks, including higher ones. Lance's A ability is very useful for rooting enemy heroes, and his B ability is useful for cancelling certain abilities and for creating more distance between an enemy hero and and allied hero.
Lance is not only an efficient captain hero, he is also a formidable and versatile warrior, being capable of using either weapon damage builds or crystal damage builds, besides the support build for the captain role. Indeed, I have often seen Lance builds using high weapon damage or high crystal damage do well in different team compositions, and this versatility could be key in certain 3v3 battles in Vainglory.
8 - Alpha
Alpha is a jungler hero of Vainglory capable of dealing high damage and also of sustaining high amounts of damage. While Alpha has a greater mobility than Krul, Alpha can be more difficult to learn how to play. This happens because Alpha's A ability, which is very useful for chasing enemy heroes, sometimes also causes her to be in dangerous positions, such as chasing an enemy hero to a turret's range. For this reason, Alpha can be difficult for beginners and new players.
While Alpha has a steeper learning curve than some other jungler heroes, she has the unique perk of having an additional health bar, that is activated whenever her first health bar reaches zero. However, in order to make use of the additional health bar, Alpha requires a reboot period during which she will be vulnerable. Skilled Alpha players manage their health bars in order to make use of the additional health bar in the most strategic moments. Due to Alpha's additional health bar and capability of dealing high damage, she is an excellent choice of jungler hero for 3v3 battles of Vainglory.
7 - Krul
Krul is a jungler hero of Vainglory that is a formidable warrior. While Krul does not generally have the same mobility as other jungler heroes, Krul has a unique perk that allows him to gain a movement speed bonus if Krul is positioned at a bush for a brief moment. This allows Krul to effectively surprise and gank enemy heroes, and if combined with a proper build, deal a high amount of damage in a short amount of time.
While in the early ranks Krul is an effective jungler hero against almost all team compositions, at higher ranks certain Krul builds do not perform as well, such as weapon builds that make use of high attack speed, mostly because in higher ranks players will be used to utilizing Atlas Pauldron to counter attack speed. For this reason, for higher ranks in Vainglory, it would be better to use high weapon damage and critical damage builds instead of attack speed builds for Krul. However, Krul's unique abilities and certain weapon builds make him an excellent choice for 3v3 matches in Vainglory.
6 - Skye
In my opinion, Skye is perhaps one of the most difficult heroes of Vainglory to learn how to play, and to play well. At the same time, Skye is capable of dealing very high amounts of damage, and is one of the most mobile heroes of Vainglory. For these reasons, Skye is able to be a formidable warrior and turn the tide of battle of many different team compositions, and is able to perform very well in teamfights and in sieging enemy turrets.
Due to the steep learning curve of learning how to play with Skye, I not suggest this hero for beginners and new players of Vainglory. However, for players who want to deal high amounts of damage and turn the tide of battle in 3v3 matches, Skye is an excellent choice. Skye also has the versatility of being efficient in both lane and jungle.
5- Blackfeather
Like Skye, Blackfeather is a hero of Vainglory that has a steep learning curve. On the other hand, Blackfeather is capable of sustaining high amounts of damage for prolonged time periods, while also being a very mobile hero, being able to get in or out of teamfights very quickly. Blackfeather is also a versatile hero, being able to use either weapon damage builds or crystal damage builds. Blackfeather is an excellent jungler hero, but in some cases Blackfeather can also be a carry hero, in the lane position.
Blackfeather is one of my personal favorite heroes of Vainglory, due to his capability of dealing high amounts of damage and hihg mobility, but Blackfeater has one important weakness: during the early stages of the battle, Blackfeather is generally at a disadvantage when fighting on 1-on-1 against most heroes. For this reason, during the early stages of battles, it is generally best to avoid too much teamfighting with Blackfeather, and to focus on farming to be stronger in the middle and late stages of the match.
4 - Reza
One of my favorite heroes for the jungle position, Reza is technically a lane hero of Vainglory. While Reza can do well in the lane position in a 3v3 battle, in my experience, Reza is great as a jungler hero in these battles. Due to Reza's high mobility, he is excellent at ganking enemy heroes and invading the enemy jungle, especially in 3v3 matches in which the jungle is smaller than in 5v5 matches.
Due to Reza's range abilities, he has the versatility of being efficient in both lane and jungle positions. Due to Reza's high mobility, skilled Reza players can poke and defeat enemy heroes in the lane in 1-on-1 lane disputes before the enemy team is able to reach the fight. Reza is a very versatile hero capable of dealing high amounts of damage, making him an excellent choice for 3v3 matches, both casual and ranked.
3 - Koshka
Koshka is a jungler hero of Vainglory, being a formidable warrior capable of dealing high amounts of damage and having a very high mobility. Koshka is perhaps one of the jungler heroes of Vainglory with the highest mobility. Koshka is also easy to learn for new players, making her an excellent choice for beginners.
While Koshka is able to deal high amounts of damage, she is not able to sustain as much damage as other heroes, and most Koshka builds rely on burst damage, which means dealing high damage in a short time, and not dealing damage over prolonged teamfights. In order words, Koshka is excellent for quick takedowns, but not as efficient in extended teamfights. At the same time, during the early and middle stages of the battle, Koshka is often stronger than many heroes, and is an efficient jungler in many different ranks of Vainglory.
2 - Gwen
Gwen is a carry hero of Vainglory, being able to deal high amounts of damage through critical hits. While many Gwen builds focus on burst damage, which means dealing high amount of damage in a short time, Gwen is also a viable DPS carry, being able to deal high damage-per-second in prolonged teamfights.
Gwen's unique abilities are excellent in teamfights: her A ability deals damage to multiple enemy heroes at the same time, her B ability increases her movement speed and cancels certain debuffs and her Ultimate ability is able to stun one enemy hero. If her Heroic Perk is used wisely, and with the proper builds, Gwen is also capable of quickly defeating many enemy heroes in 1-on-1 fights, making her an excellent choice for battles in 3v3 in Vainglory.
1 - Ringo
My personal favorite carry hero of Vainglory, Ringo is a hero that is quite easy to learn. Ringo's A ability slows down enemy heroes, Ringo's B ability increases his attack speed and movement speed and his Ultimate ability deals a high amount of damage while also chasing the target for long distances.
Most Ringo weapon builds make use of increased attack speed and attack damage. However, Ringo builds can also use lifesteal effects (Serpent Mask and Poisoned Shiv), increased critical hits (Tyrant's Monocle) and increased attack damage during fights (Breaking Point). Ringo is capable of achieving very high attack speed in the late game with certain builds, and skilled Ringo players can poke and kite enemy heroes, disputing the lane and clearing the way for turret sieges. Considering that Ringo is capable of dealing high amounts of damage and is quite easy to learn, he is an excellent choice for 3v3 battles of Vainglory.
