For those who enjoy PC gaming, and especially, for those who enjoy playing on the PC with a keyboard and mouse, it is very important to make a good choice of a mouse for gaming. While for general office work many mouses will do, for gaming, there is a variety of mouses available. Some mouses are more simple, while others offer a higher number of different buttons, which is important, for example, for gamers who enjoy playing competitive video games, such as MOBAs (multiplayer online battle arena).

The Video Game Literate's recommended mouse, the Logitech M105. In this picture, you can see my own Logitech M105, which I have been using for quite some time. The Logitech M105 is excellent for single player gaming and non-competitive gaming.

The Logitech M105 is the mouse I have used for the longest time. While this is by no means an ideal mouse for hardcore and competitive gamers, this is a great choice for players looking for a comfortable mouse, which can be used to play most video games. This is my personal favorite mouse for single player gaming and non-competitive gaming, and I have used it for many years.

The Logitech M105 is an excellent choice for single player gaming and non-competitive gaming, and if you don't want to spend on a more expensive mouse. However, its low DPI is not ideal for competitive multiplayer games.

I recommend the Logitech M105 for people who do not want to spend on a more expensive mouse, and are not planning on playing a lot of competitive multiplayer games. I recommend this mouse for players who mostly play single player video games and non-competitive video games.

Advantages of the Logitech M105

Why It Is Comfortable

This mouse is not as big as some gaming mouses, a reason why it is quite comfortable, especially for gamers with small hands. Many classic gaming mouses can be quite large, especially to feature the high number of buttons available for gameplay. While the Logitec M105 only has the three standard buttons, due to its smaller size, it is very comfortable.

A Discreet Mouse

The Logitech M105 also has the advantage of being quite discreet, so if you are looking for a mouse that does not glow or emits bright lights while gaming, this is also an excellent choice. This is interesting for players who are looking to play, for example, horror video games, sci-fi games and post-apocalyptic games. In these games, atmosphere is quite important. If you plan on playing with your room lights off, then consider also playing with a mouse that does not glow, such as the Logitech M105.

The Logitech M105 in a room in which the lights turned off. As you can see in the picture, it does not glow, even if it is being used. However, if you turn the mouse upside down, you will be able to see a red light. However, this red light does not appear while the mouse is being used in the standard way.

Due to being a quite discreet mouse due to not glowing, it is an excellent choice of mouse for players who enjoy horror video games. Consider using this mouse the next time you play horror video games such as Alien: Isolation, Amnesia, Dead Space, Outlast, Penumbra, Resident Evil and other horror video games.

Disadvantages Compared to Other Mouses

The Logitech M105 is not especially designed for gaming, unlike other mouses. For this reason, it bears some disadvantages.

Lower DPI than Standard Gaming Mouses

For example, its DPI is much lower than standard gaming mouses. For example, you can quite easily find gaming mouses with a DPI higher than 5,000, while the Logitech M105 has a DPI of 1000, which is much lower. For this reason, if you plan on playing competitive games, especially competitive FPS and MOBA video games, consider choosing a mouse with a higher DPI. On the other hand, if you plan on playing story-driven games, action-adventure games, open world games, horror games, strategy games, and many other genres, especially single player games, a mouse with 1000 DPI is just fine. I have personally played with this model, of 1000 DPI, for years, and had a great experience.

Smaller Than Many Gaming Mouses

While I do not consider the Logitech M105 being smaller a disadvantage for all players, it will be a disadvantage for some players, especially people with larger hands. If you are a player with small hands, the Logitech M105 is an excellent choice, as long as you also bear in mind that it has a 1000 DPI, which is lower than standard gaming mouses, which has to be considered if you plan on playing competitive and multiplayer games.

How to Choose the Best Mouse for Gaming

While there is a variety of mouses available, there are three main aspects of a mouse: comfort and gameplay. Comfort referes to how the mouse fits with the user's hand. While this aspect may seem subtle, considering that many players spend several hours plaing video games, the mouse must be as comfortable as possible for this long use. The other aspect, gameplay, refers to players who desire to engage in multiple gameplay functions at the same time. This is most often seen in competitive video games, such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, League of Legends, among other video games.

The best mouse for gaming varies according to the player's preferences. Casual gamers should choose the most comfortable mouse, while hardcore and competitive gamers should choose mouses with high DPI and many buttons.
